my trusted jewelry store for 10 years, highly recommend!
I love this store. If you want to shop at a nameless and soulless corporately owned jeweler shop this ain't it. This is a quirky and delightful store with an eccentric owner. I have always dealt with him with politeness and he has always been courtly in his politeness to me. His craftsmanship is beyond reproach in my experience. I have taken antique rings there for repair and watches and bought jewelry and was always satisfied.
So many small shops are closing these days due to the banksters not supporting the little people. I doubt that there are many other African-American businesses of this sort in Portland. I love the owner, I think he is very cool. I love that he blesses me when I leave the store. I honor all paths and wherever I am in the world I am grateful for blessings and prayers from whatever tradition. I also think Ron should get a best dressed man in Portland award for his groovy sartorial style.

Good Work, prices seem to be normal.
I had 2 repair jobs done by this jeweler with no problems and it was quality work.

I had my wife's engagement ring repaired. It had a bent post so the diamond was loose. He did it on the spot, cost I think $48.

I then had my ring resized, I took it to him and was quoted a price of $48. Then a couple months later I went back to get the work done and the final price was like $65. I noticed the price difference but I was satisfied with the quality of the work plus, helping out a local owned shop, that the $17 bucks wasn't that big of a deal.

The experience I have gotten at this store is totally opposite what the other review reflected. The owner seems to be this layed back older hippie who has seemed to found jesus as he always tells me "god bless you" which hey, cool with me. So it sounds like the customer of the previous review might of been a bit over amped? In any case I thought I would post up my experiences as this shop isn't as bad as the previous review reflected.

Poor service, poor quality
If you need a watch battery changed this is a fine place to go. However, I needed a simple repair job (addition of jump rings) on a sterling bracelet made with extremely rare glass and was treated very poorly. When I was not satisfied with the shoddy work and rings used the owner was clearly angry with me; he then chided me in front of other customers. When I asked him to simply remove the rings so I could take the bracelet, he put new ones in which was not what I asked for. He then got angry with me for not being happy. He did not do what I asked! I was charged $12 and he wouldn't give me a refund. I had to take my bracelet to another store to get what I needed. The bead store down the street ended up putting in better quality rings, with superior skill and craftsmanship, at half the price! This guy may be able to change a watch battery, but he has a bad attitude, low quality products, and takes your money without doing what you politely asked to have done! Don't shop here unless you want to be treated like your requests don't matter!
