We just sold our house. A few months ago, when we were about to put it on the market, and moved a large majority of our things out. Somehow the house was reported to Mr. Maid as vacant. So they came to clean, we leave the key under the mat for them, and come home a little later, and my personal duffel bag is GONE. Inside was my laptop, external hard drive, digital camera, checkbooks, and credit cards. Overall valued at over $1500. Not to mention 8 years of digital pictures, which are the only pictures my family has from the last 8 years. Also all of the music I have written and recorded for the last 4 years. The cops were called, and they filed a police report. At first the owner of Mr. Maid was helpful, but as soon as he realized this was a big deal, would not answer any calls and has not done anything since. The police told me they can't do anything because we left the key under the mat, and someone else could have come in and taken the bag. If someone else used the key, they would have also stolen the guitars, music equipment, personal records and other stuff that was still in the house. It's easy for someone to take one bag and throw it in a cleaning van. The fact people leave keys under mats is a GIANT LEGAL LOOPHOLE, which any cleaning company can use to steal from people's homes. Yesterday I received a check for $500 from my insurance company, which is our deductable. That leaves $1000 and pain and suffering from losing the last 8 years of my work. NEVER use this company. I'm still suffering from my loss and I will do everything I can to make sure this doesn't happen to other people. This is ridiculous.
