Newbie with a place to go..
I'm a VW newbie... these guys at the parts counter all know this, and go out of their way to be of service to me. They've helped me with MANY parts in the build of my first Bug. If they couldn't obtain the part, they would send me to, or call, Always VDub to get the part that I needed. I've been with them for a year, and will be for 20 + more... There's got to be something said for patience and respect when they see me once a week for another part.

Couldn't even get through a conversation with Rob to set up an appointment. Major ahole. I reward nice and will continue to take my car to Everett St. Autoworks.

The place for VW's by Ashley K. at InsiderPages
There is good and bad about Halsey Imports. The parts store is great you can find whatever you need for your VW and if they don't have it the order it. Staff is knowledgeable. The service center, although they know their stuff, the owner is a jerk. Having to put up with his attitude made me take my car for service to another place. For parts though they are great!

Superior service and fair prices.
I've been going to Halsey for 15 years and they've never failed me. From power windows to water pumps to broken door locks, they've always given a fair price and far exceeded any other shop in town service-wise. I needed some armrests for the captains chairs and VW wanted $200 each -- Halsey cannibalized perfectly new-looking ones and installed for $10 each!

I can always count on them to give me an accurate estimate, superior and timely service, and an overview of what might be coming up next for me, but without any pressure to "get it done now".

Halsey is also the best place to peruse the bulletin board for used vans -- these guys really know Westys!

Manic Owner- Beware
We used Halsey Automotives for a while without complaints. The woman at the front desk is darling, but the owner is very unpredictable. The last time we dropped off our car off to have it checked out, it was returned to us with a broken emergency brake. We never had a problem with the e-brake before that. When we approached the shop to ask what happened the owner freaked out , was agressively rude and accused us of trying to scam him. He made us pay over $100 to get it fixed. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe the brake was on its last leg and some new employee yanked it too hard and then never said anything. Who knows, but regardless the owner is not rational and I would not recommend doing business with somelike that.
