Superduper
The whole experience was great! The salon is in a nice location with easy parking, and the vibe is somehow both energetic and relaxing at the same time. Lots of bright natural light so you can actually tell what you're going to look like out in the real world.

My stylist was Lauren and I have nothing but good things to say. I got highlights for the first time since high school and I was very nervous. They look great! Just as if I'd been out in the sun and my hair had naturally become this way. I've gotten loads of compliments. The cut is easy to maintain and to style, and she really spent time after the cut showing me how to do it myself. Best of all, she offers free bbang trims between cuts. With a little pixie cut like mine that is a huge help to keep me from looking like an ungroomed terrier between cuts!

Best haircut I have ever had
I had Lauren as my stylist, and she was fantastic. I told her I was growing my hair out, and she not only asked me what I wanted it to look like now, but what I wanted it to look like eventually (which I've never been asked, but is actually kind of important). After spending maybe 10 minutes figuring out exactly what I wanted based on my hair type, and my usual styling routine, she proceeded to give me the best haircut I have ever had. At different steps she explained what she was doing and how I could repeat it at home. She even handed me the straightening iron so that I could practice straightening it the way she was doing it. I came away feeling like I'd gotten a better cut than I have ever imagined getting, and I know how to do it at home, too.

Blu rocks my socks
I walked into Blu on a whim this past Saturday, hoping to get my haircut as I was going to be involved in a last-minute photography project and wanted to look my best. I was half-expecting a frantic salon and swift "No, we're totally booked" or "We'll TRY and fit you in in about 3 hours." What I got was a very pleasant surprise. I was greeted with a smile by the receptionist and asked hesitantly if anyone was available to cut my hair and shape my eyebrows. Though the salon was indeed buzzing with customers, it still had an air of relaxation and the friendly receptionist said it was no problem and that Charlotte could take me. Then she asked if I wanted some water, soda, or BEER! I liked this place already.

Charlotte attended to me immediately and sat me down to ask what I wanted to do with my hair. I said that I had been contemplating getting bangs, but hadn't had them since I was 8 years-old and I wanted to leave as much length to the rest of my hair as possible. She listened very attentively and asked questions to make sure she understood exactly what I was looking for.

She took me back to do my eyebrows first and was very gentle. They turned out great. Then she took me to get shampooed and she instantly became my new best friend when she threw a little neck massage in there!

When I returned to the chair, I have to say I was a little nervous. What if the bangs turned out weird and I looked ridiculous for the photo shoot instead of awesome? Charlotte took her time and her relaxed demeanor put me at ease, even while the years of bang-growth got chopped off in an instant.

While she was shaping and styling my hair, Charlotte told me what all the products were that she was using and why she was using them. She really seemed to tailor what she used to my hair and wasn't trying to hard-sell me anything.

When all was said and done, I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe how extremely awesome my hair looked. It was easily the best hair cut I had had in a LONG time! I was ecstatic. Everyone else in the salon agreed at how well the new style suited me. I felt prettier than I have in a WHILE.

Needless to say, I will DEFINITELY go back and see Charlotte. She is AWESOME. I highly recommend her and the salon to anyone looking for quality without pretension.

Pleasant experience all around!
I haven't had a consistent hair stylist in several years. I had been to Blu once to get my hair done for a wedding and I liked it, so when I moved over to the east side, I decided to give them a try.

I ended up getting my hair cut by Tasia, and she has done a great job the two times I have been there. I had shoulder length hair and wanted to go pixie short, but she recommended doing a less dramatic "transition" cut which I am so glad she suggested! The transition cut, while it wasn't what I originally had in mind, was so cute and I received tons of compliments on it.

Yesterday, I went back to get the pixie cut, and I love it as well. Tasia listened to my input while giving her own suggestions and the outcome was great. She is very helpful in offering styling tips so this morning, I felt fairly confident in doing my hair on my own.

Also, she does free bangs trims in between cuts, which gives you an extra week or so that you can wait before your next cut! :)

Needless to say, I have already scheduled my next appointment.

Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere
Don't let that fool you, though- these women are professionals! I have really hard to manage hair and Trish did an absolutely amazing job with it. I finally found a salon with the perfect combination of friendliness AND skill. They definitely earned my repeat business.
