Bird Hut at it's finest
Bird Hut is the one store that sells birds that does not get birds from what is often called 'bird mills'. The owners get birds from the people that come in to buy birds and bird supplies for the most from them. For the most part when they take in new birds, they in insist that they are weened, and will not sell any bird that is unweened. 18 months ago, I got a bare eyed cockatoo from them. At the time that I paid for her, she was unweened, and even with my hand feeding experience, I was not able to bring the bird home until she was completely weened for at least 2 weeks. Anyone that wants a bird, should go into the Bird Hut and ask questions to be sure that they are suited for birds, and that it is a job they want to take on. Another thing that Bird Hut has done for me, they have placed special orders for me when I have requested it. If you are not a bird person, this is okay, but there are those that are, and will stand by their friends.

Very Nice! by charles m. at InsiderPages
I don't know what the last guy was saying - and I don't believe it is a real review. I have been in there many times and know Brian and Diane personally - and they are great. The fact the review is anonymous definitely lends itself to a lack of credibility - some disgruntled bird store owner most likely... Brian and Diane have a great variety of birds (including probably the best exotic birds in Portland), supplies, toys, baths, etc... go check em out!

Rude
I bought my bird there many years ago and I go there to get food. I find them to be not real friendly or helpful, especially the women. The man does fine but I have tried time and time again to get help and information and no one wants to really help me out or if they do answer me, it seems to be an imposition. Today was the final straw so will find my bird supplies elsewhere.

This place is great! by Your F. at InsiderPages
They have as many nice birds as anybody I've seen and the owners (and the help) are great! When you walk in, the room to the left has at least 10 birds playing on wonderful hanging toys every time I have been in. Also if you are looking for a cage, make sure to tell someone they keep them in a separate building in the back - it's huge and full, with very good prices. This place is a treasure. Also, if you are looking for a particular bird give them a call - I have seen African Greys, Macaws, Cockatoos, Amazons, Conures, and more every time I have been in.

They told me if I mention that I found them online they will give 10% off!!
